At GBM, technical thermoplastics and thermoplastic elastomers are processed by 1K and 2K injection moulding. Our 34 ENGEL injection moulding machines cover clamping forces from 200 to 4,000 kN and shot weights from 0.1 to 1,300 g. Production includes glass-fibre-reinforced and flame-retardant materials and demanding hard–soft combinations. Process control is supported by integrated digital production monitoring.

GBM develops and manufactures tools for single- and multi-component injection moulding, including transfer and index-plate concepts. Toolmaking and injection production are coordinated at the Mattighofen site, supporting maintenance, changes and serial optimisation. The tooling operation combines precision milling and electrical discharge machining with repair and fixture-building capabilities. The documented product family is injection moulds; compression-mould production is not independently claimed.

GBM offers single- and multicolour pad printing for the decoration of technical plastic components. Its finishing portfolio also includes UV digital printing, hot stamping and other surface treatments appropriate to the component. Decoration can be coordinated with upstream moulding and downstream assembly to form a more complete production service. Specialist painting and electroplating, when requested, are performed by external providers rather than claimed as in-house processes.

GBM assembles individual plastic and externally supplied components into functional systems and subassemblies. The documented operations include screw fastening, hot staking, bonding and the insertion or pressing-in of threaded bushes. Flexible assembly methods are applied to small and medium production volumes and can be combined with finishing operations. In-house automation solutions support economical production even where demand quantities are relatively modest.

Tool concepts are developed with injection-moulding and part requirements in mind. GBM combines practical production feedback with tooling design, including concepts for index plates, multiple components and automated handling. Design optimisation and adjustments can be made alongside the in-house toolmaking operation. The aim is reliable mould operation throughout serial production and efficient tooling modifications.

Precision technical plastic components serve demanding mechanical and optical applications in areas including automotive, electronics, telecommunications and medical-device technology. GBM processes engineering polymers including PA, POM, ABS, ASA, PC, PBT and PMMA and thermoplastic elastomers. Glass-fibre contents up to 60% and appropriate flame-retardant formulations are among the documented processing capabilities. Design input, material selection and serial process optimisation are integrated into the manufacturing approach.

DFMA-oriented engineering support helps customers improve component designs before and during tool development. GBM advises on wall thicknesses, transitions, polymer choice, gating and process-compatible part geometry. Lessons from more than 2,000 completed customer projects inform the company’s approach to manufacturability and cost reduction. This design activity is closely linked to its injection-moulding production capabilities.

Ultrasonic welding and hot staking form part of GBM’s documented joining portfolio for plastic components and assemblies. These technologies can be combined with assembly, bonding and other finishing steps according to product requirements. The company offers the integrated joining process alongside plastic moulding and final assembly. Specific welding settings or product materials are determined by the project rather than assumed for every part.
