About

About Lercher Werkzeugbau GmbH

At Lercher Werkzeugbau GmbH, we support industrial customers from the first development concept to precision tooling, injection molding and downstream assembly. Our family-owned operation in Klaus, Austria, combines CAD-based component and mold engineering with an in-house toolroom and molding production. This integrated setup helps us coordinate design decisions, tool manufacture, process trials and repeatable series production.

Our toolroom produces injection molds weighing up to five tonnes, using advanced five-axis CNC machining, erosion, grinding and metrology. On the molding side, 49 injection molding machines with clamping forces from 60 to 500 tonnes support prototypes, pilot runs and high-volume production. A technical center tests molds under production conditions before their release, while master-mold inserts offer an efficient path for low-volume pilot parts.

Our experience covers demanding technical plastic components, overmolding and selected multi-component applications for automotive, industrial, furniture and other sectors. We also offer manual and automated assembly, joining, welding and packaging. In our work, engineering, production and quality assurance are closely connected so that customer projects can move from an idea to reliable manufactured parts.

Capabilities

Our competencies

Injection molded parts

Injection molded parts

Our injection molding department handles samples, pilot runs and high-volume production on 49 machines. Clamping forces range from 60 to 500 tonnes, with shot volumes up to 1,700 cm³. Common thermoplastics, reinforced grades and overmolding are part of the published processing range. Robot-supported handling and a technical center support stable, repeatable production.

Injection and compression molds

Injection and compression molds

Our in-house toolroom produces injection molds weighing up to five tonnes. The published mold portfolio includes stack, multi-component, multi-cavity, overmolding and prototype molds. Tool production combines five-axis CNC machining, erosion, grinding, assembly and inspection. The same site also supports mold maintenance and trial runs before series manufacture.

Mold design

Mold design

The tool architecture is developed and optimized before machining begins. Our design workflow incorporates CAD design, mold filling simulation, tolerance assessment and production planning. A digitally connected toolroom enables close coordination from engineering to machining. Designers work with our toolmakers and molding process specialists to prepare tools for practical series production.

Part design

Part design

Our engineering team supports the development and refinement of customer components, including the transition from an initial technical concept to a manufacturable part. CAD, shape and tolerance analyses, injection molding simulation and FEM calculations are used where relevant to the project. This engineering work helps align component geometry with the planned mold concept. Development continues in coordination with toolmaking and process trials.

Prototyping

Prototyping

Prototype production is supported by additive methods and by injection molding in a shared master-mold system. Published additive options include FDM, SLA and SLS, while mold-insert-based prototype runs provide series-like processing conditions. The master-mold approach can support batches starting from one part. This enables engineering verification and pilot production before investment in a dedicated series mold.

Assembled parts

Our downstream services include manual, partly automated and fully automated assembly of plastic subassemblies. Joining, welding, component marking and packaging are also described in the official production workflow. These steps allow molded parts to move through additional operations within one coordinated manufacturing arrangement. An A.M.I. device case study specifically documents ultrasonic welding of two housing halves.

Technical parts

Precision components are manufactured for applications that demand repeatability and careful control of part geometry. The published process range includes common thermoplastics, materials with up to 60% glass-fiber reinforcement, composite materials and bioplastics. Our team integrates process development, molding trials and measurement before serial release. Component sizes cited for our injection molding operation range from 0.5 to 400 mm.
