About

About MKW Kunststofftechnik GmbH

MKW Kunststofftechnik GmbH is an Austrian plastics manufacturer based in Weibern and part of the family-owned MKW Group, established in 1960. Its plastics business combines thermoplastic and thermoset injection moulding, thermoset compression moulding, development and in-house toolmaking. Customers can source technical components, sanitary products and accompanying engineering services from a coordinated manufacturing organisation.

Our injection moulding operations handle thermoplastics at clamping forces up to 900 tonnes and thermosets at up to 80 tonnes. The pressing division manufactures resin-based products from UF moulding compounds, melamine and BMC/SMC materials. A dedicated tool shop designs and manufactures moulds and fixtures up to 5,000 kg, connecting product engineering, prototyping and series production.

MKW's portfolio includes industrial mouldings, functional housings, toilet seats and sanitation products. The company also provides product design, simulation, assembly and logistics as part of the production chain. The Weibern site is covered by the company's published ISO 9001 quality-management certification and the MKW Kunststofftechnik ISO 14001 environmental-management programme.

Capabilities

Our competencies

Injection molded parts

Injection molded parts

MKW produces customised thermoplastic injection-moulded components with in-house product development, part engineering and tooling support. Injection-moulding machines operate with clamping forces of up to 900 tonnes for thermoplastics. Applications shown by the company range from housings and functional connecting components to storage and sanitation accessories. Two-component moulding and the encapsulation of inserts such as metal or felt extend the available design options.

Thermosets injection molded parts

Thermosets injection molded parts

Thermoset and resin-based plastics are processed by MKW using dedicated injection moulding technology, with published clamping forces of up to 80 tonnes. The company combines materials selection, component design and its own toolmaking capabilities in the same development-to-production workflow. These processes support technical mouldings where strength, temperature resistance, surface hardness and dimensional characteristics matter. This is specifically thermoset injection moulding, distinct from the company's pressing process.

Compression molding

Compression molding

MKW manufactures compression-moulded thermoset components using urea-formaldehyde moulding compounds, melamine resins and BMC/SMC materials. The press-technology division makes products including toilet seats, stool slabs, shelving components and insulating frames. Tooling, prototype evaluation and series production can be supported internally. Pressing is a separately evidenced technology and must not be confused with the company's thermoset injection moulding.

Injection and compression molds

Injection and compression molds

The in-house toolmaking department designs and produces moulds for thermoplastic, thermoset and two-component injection moulding as well as thermoset pressing. MKW reports the production of tools weighing up to 5,000 kg. Equipment and capabilities include three- and five-axis milling, EDM, grinding and turning, alongside associated fixtures and test equipment. This integrated toolmaking approach supports corrections and improvements during industrialisation.

Mold design

Tool engineering and mould construction are carried out within MKW's own plastics operation. The design workflow covers injection and compression tooling, fixtures and production-oriented tooling optimisation. Engineers coordinate the tool concept with component and process requirements before manufacturing and series use. In-house design provides a direct link between customer requirements and subsequent precision tool manufacture.

Part design

MKW supports early product development with individual concepts, component design, engineering simulation and selection of suitable plastics. Development is connected to prototype verification and to the company's injection and press-moulding technologies. The approach helps translate functional and production requirements into components suitable for industrial manufacture. Product and project management form part of the customer development workflow.

Assembled parts

The MKW plastics service chain includes final assembly after production of moulded components. Its documented injection-moulding and press-technology processes include assembling, packaging and logistics stages through to finished products. This allows individual moulded parts to be combined and supplied as customer-ready assemblies. The competence refers to MKW Kunststofftechnik's plastics operations, not the separate MKW Oberflächen+Draht metal-processing business.
